European
Country
Mountain views and
a floor plan which surrounds the swimming pool - reminiscent of the "courtyard
plans" of old set this house apart from the typical country home.
Given a photographic wish list from
books about the Old World, we set out to design a house with the feel of
old Europe inside and out. The exterior mixes the board and stucco
theme of old English tudor style homes with thatched roofs. Precise
stone work and a shingle roof completes the vision. The interior
expresses a french country feel with faux painting and plastered walls. |

Hand hewn and distressed
exposed wood beams in a dark stain is contrasted against fanciful colors
of the plastered walls. Oversized handmade bricks in the fireplace
give a sense of age and history to the Kitchen. Attention to every
detail showcases the craftsmanship of the builder. |

Details such as the tumbled marble
Kitchen floors and shower walls, hand made tiles from a local artist, hand
painted cabinets, custom board & batten doors with strap hinges, and
bead board ceilings give this Old Europe home continuity, elegance and
warmth. |
